Biography for Jefferis Kent Peterson

Jeff Peterson was born in Washington, D. C. in 1954, and grew up that area. He became a Christian in November of 1973 while a sophomore at Connecticut College in New London, CT. He received a B. A. in Religion from that institution in 1977. While there, he met and married his wife, Leigh. And while she completed her studies at Connecticut and then received her Master Degree in Special Education from George Washington University in Washington, D. C., Jeff worked as a forklift operator in a lumber yard and then as a food stamp worker for Social Services in Alexandria, VA.
After receiving a call to the ministry, Jeff entered seminary in 1981, and graduated with a Master of Divinity, Magna Cum Laude, from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D. C. in 1984, winning the American Bible Society Award for Outstanding Achievement in Biblical Studies. From January 1985 until September 1989, he pastored Ebenezer Presbyterian Church, in Grove City, PA. He resigned as a minister in the Presbyterian Church(USA) in 1989 over disagreement with the Church’s pro-abortion position. Since then he was worked as an independent sales contractor for various industries while maintaining an active ministry at a local crisis pregnancy center. He is a regular contributing writer for various publications around the country. He occassionally appears on television and radio as a guest in the Atlanta and Pittsburgh over the counter areas. In 1993, he became a teacher with The Center for Biblical Literacy in Atlanta. And in 1994 he was ordained as a Scholastic Fellow with that organization. He was a publisher and editor of their e-journal, O Theophilus, which is available through the Internet and on various commercial computer services such as CompuServe and America On Line. In April of 1995, Jeff and Leigh planted a mission church called Living Word of Butler, in Butler County, PA. The outreach to an impoverished community lasted until the beginning of 1999, when, after leading over 26 children to the Lord, the doors of opportunity began to close.

Jeff now does web design and internet marketing and is an artist.
