Social Security and Abortion

The Law of Harvesting What You Plant

40 MILLION ABORTIONS SINCE 1973
4,000 each day
1

(originally written in 2003. 2012 estimate: 54 million unborn babies have been killed in the U.S. since 1973.)

"You harvest what you plant."
Modern translation of:
Do not be deceived; God is not mocked, for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
(Galatians 6:7)

Let me put it bluntly. If we had not aborted 40 million children since 1973, there would be no problem with the Social Security system. We'd have more than 25 million more people paying into Social Security with workers coming online each year. There would probably be less problems with the economy as well. 40 million more boxes of cereal would be sold each week. We'd need 1 million more homes each year, cars, clothes, etc. The economy would most likely be booming, but because of the increased availability of workers, wage inflation would most likely not be a problem. Sure, you would have cycles in the economy, as usual, but overall, you would be growing the system and providing for our elderly. We'd need teachers and construction workers, farmers and office workers, auto mechanics and factory workers. There would be more tax revenues to pay for budget items like mass transportation and the war.

We have NO right to blame anyone for the Social Security mess except ourselves. We have harvested what we planted. We believed the foolish lie that sacrificing our children for the sake of future prosperity would solve our current problems. Instead, we are reaping the harvest of selfishness in a faltering economy and a Social Security system in distress. Why do we abort our children? The major reasons are not pretty. They are mostly selfish reasons and for reasons of economy:

Although there are situations in which abortion is in response to health concerns of the mother or fetus, or in response to pregnancy arising from abuse, the majority of abortions are obtained for social and financial reasons. The primary reasons given for choosing abortion are given below.

  • 75% say that having a baby would interfere with work, school or other responsibilities
  • about 66% say they cannot afford a child
  • 50% do not want to be a single parent or are having problems with their husband or partner 2

This is the same lie that was told when the ancients burned their children on the altars of Baal. "Burn your children and your crops will grow and you will have a good harvest." That is what they believed. We believed it too. Only we were sacrificing our children for careers and jobs.

Now every age has heard it this voice that speaks from hell
"Sacrifice your children and for you it will be well"
The subtle serpent's lying, his dark and ruthless rage,
Behold, it is revealed to be the Spirit of the Age.
— Michael Card's "Spirit Of The Age"

This unnatural and inhuman rejection of the children by parents, this lack of care for the weakest and most helpless and defenseless, caused God to judge the inhabitants of Palestine. He sent in Israel to wipe them out because their "iniquity had reached its full measure" {Gen 15:16}. However, child sacrifice was the primary reason God also destroyed Israel. The punishment on them was the same as they had inflicted on others. God was not showing partiality.

There was one sin that God would not forgive the nation of Israel: the shedding of innocent blood. Because of this sin, God promised destruction on the nation. The little children are made in the image of God. They belong to Him – not to us, and we are entrusted with their care. Jesus said, when comparing the image on silver coins to Caesar, to give that which is Caesars to Caesar, but to God that which is God's. The unborn children in the womb bear the image of their Maker. They are God's property and not ours to do with as we so choose. We are not allowed to murder or kill those who made in the image of God. So Jesus said, "Even as you have done it to the least [and most helpless] of these, you have done it unto Me." How we treat the weakest and most helpless among us is how we treat God.

When Satan tried to stop the deliverance of God, he inspired Pharaoh to make a covenant of death to kill all the Jewish children as soon as they were born [that was infanticide, which is what partial birth abortion is]. Moses was born anyway, but it set in motion a cycle of consequences – or the law of sowing and reaping, and years later, the angel of death returned to collect his due and all the first born of Egypt died of a plague on the night of Passover. In other words, the king made an attempt to kill the innocent children, but his own children and children of his countrymen became forfeit. He reaped what he had sown. By supporting abortion, we make a covenant with death as a nation and our own children become forfeit.

This destruction of the innocent is so offensive to God that he declared it to be the ONE sin he would not forgive Israel:

Surely this came upon Judah at the command of the LORD, to remove them out of his sight, for the sins of Manasseh, according to all that he had done, and also for the innocent blood that he had shed; for he filled Jerusalem with innocent blood, and the LORD would not pardon. (2 Kings 24:3-4)

And Manasseh built altars for all the host of heaven in the two courts of the house of the LORD. And he burned his son as an offering, and practiced soothsaying and augury, and dealt with mediums and with wizards. He did much evil in the sight of the LORD, provoking him to anger. And the graven image of Ashe'rah that he had made he set in the house of which the LORD …But they did not listen, and Manasseh seduced them to do more evil than the nations had done whom the LORD destroyed before the people of Israel. And the LORD said by his servants the prophets, "Because Manasseh king of Judah has committed these abominations, and has done things more wicked than all that the Amorites did, who were before him, and has made Judah also to sin with his idols; therefore thus says the LORD, the God of Israel, Behold, I am bringing upon Jerusalem and Judah such evil that the ears of every one who hears of it will tingle. (2 Kings 21:5-12).

By supporting this evil as a nation and voting to preserve it, we invite the spirit of death to visit our own children. If we do not respect the Lord's children, how can we expect him to protect our own? Not that God would have it so, but we put ourselves in jeopardy by ignoring his warnings against doing evil. Remember the Lord does not curse anyone, we curse ourselves and we prevent God from pouring out his blessings and protection upon us.

No one believes in the God of the Old and New Testaments anymore. They believe in the Santa Claus God who overlooks evil and only gives out treats. However, in the Old Testament, the famines and wars, and calamities that came upon the people were the result of their own evil deeds. God seeks to protect, but he must allow the destruction if we pursue evil by choice. 9/11 was just a warning. What is coming is far worse if we continue in the paths we have chosen. And we bring curses upon ourselves as a nation when we exalt unholy and unrighteous leaders who will uphold evil as the law of the land. The judgments will not be God's doing, they will be our own.

  1. When these babies were thrown into fires, it was worship of Baal. In Jeremiah 19:4-9 is one record of this evil. In v. 5 “they have also built the high places of Baal to burn their sons with fire for burnt offerings to Baal,… therefore behold, the days are coming, says the LORD that this place shall no more be called Tophet, or the Valley of the Son of HInnom, but the Valley of Slaughter.”
[My point is that Tophet uses the word “toph” for “drum.” When children were burned in sacrifice to idols, drums were beaten to drown out their cries.]

    • While I agree with you about Baal, however your conclusion about the use of drums is too legalistic an interpretation.
8608. תָּפַף tâphaph, taw-faf´; a prim. root; to drum, i.e. play (as) on the tambourine:—taber, play with timbrels.
Tambourines were used by Miriam and it was sanctioned by the Lord. “Raise a song; sound the tambourine, the sweet lyre with the harp.” (Psalm 81:2, ESV)
The fact that the devil misused an instrument that God ordained for his praise, does not invalidate the use of the instrument, anymore than demonic tongues, mentioned by Paul, invalidates the authentic use, also sanctioned by Paul as a gift of the Holy Spirit to the Church. Don’t let the devil steal from you what God has intended for His Glory. It is the object of the use that determines its function. James said the tongue can be used to praise God or set the world on fire. I am editing your message, fyi to withhold your conclusions.
