Statement of Faith

The Scholar’s Corner – Statement of Faith

Doctrinal Statement

The Scholar’s Corner agrees with the following doctrinal position:

1. We believe the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments in their original autographs are the inspired and infallible Word of God, the complete revelation of God’s will for the salvation of men, and the divine and final authority for Christian faith and life (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

2. We believe in one true and living God, Creator of all things, manifested personally as Father, Son, and Holy Ghost (Isaiah 37:16; 1 John 5:7).

3. We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ the Lord, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death on the Cross, in His bodily resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father on high, and in His personal return in power and glory (Romans 10:9).

4. We believe that all men are lost apart from Jesus Christ, who alone is the “way, the truth, and the life,” by which men come to the Father, and that there is “no other name under heaven by which men might be saved” (John 14:6; Acts 4:12). Salvation is by grace, through faith, and that not of ourselves: “it is a gift of God” (Ephesians 2:8).

5. We believe in the spiritual “new birth” of the believer, “the washing of regeneration and renewing of the Holy Spirit” that produces a “walk in newness of life” progressively transforming him into the image of the Son (John 3:3; Romans 6:4; 8:29; 2 Corinthians 3:18).

6. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit to convict, teach, lead, and empower the believer to live a holy life, and the present ministry of the Holy Spirit in church gatherings with attendant gifts and manifestations that edify the Body of Christ consistent with God’s Word (John 14-16; 1 Corinthians 12-14).

7. We believe in the ultimate and inevitable rule of the Kingdom of God, the coming of Christ in judgment, and the resurrection of both the believer and the unbeliever.

8. We believe in the spiritual unity of believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, the Body of Christ (Ephesians 4:1-6; John 17:23).

  1. Hallo,
your statement of faith, leads me to believe you are a Protestant movement of some kind.
It also lacks to tell the reader of said statement, which bible you use and who your teaching authority on scripture is. As it lacks this important information the reader is inclined to believe that any pastor of your movement then also is the interpreter of scripture? By whose authority?
Additionally there’s zero reference to the necessity of Baptism, which not only is biblical but an absolute must for salvation!
I’d much appreciate additional information on the issues addressed above.
    Thank you kindly,
    Anna

    • Anna, the statement of faith is based upon the Nicene Creed, but includes an affirmation of the importance of Scripture, which is a contemporary issue under attack by “churches” which deny the authority of Scripture.. It is not meant to be an exhaustive statement of everything we believe. I read the original Greek and Hebrew, so I am not sure what relevance the version of the English bible is an issue. The authority is the Word of God, written down, and inspired by the Holy Spirit. Anything which contradicts the Scripture is false teaching. Baptism is indeed important, but I note that the thief on the cross next to Jesus and believed, was not baptized but nevertheless was saved. There may be many people who are believers who are martyred before they have a chance to be baptized. In that case, they are baptized in the blood of their sacrifice. Would God exclude them from his kingdom because they had not the opportunity to be baptized?
“because, if you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes and is justified, and with the mouth one confesses and is saved. For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek; for the same Lord is Lord of all, bestowing his riches on all who call on him. For “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”” – Romans 10:9–13 (ESV)
