A Prayer for Sarah Palin

August 3, 2009 by Jefferis Peterson

We just got back from a trip to Alaska, and I jokingly said, "We're going to see Sarah," knowing she would probably not be in Juneau when we were there. I did want to pray for her, though, after all she has been through. The Monday night after we got back, I had a dream in which I embraced her and got to pray for her. In the dream, she had her glasses off and she looked worn out. As I began to pray for her, the prayer sounded more like a prophetic voice than a prayer. Indeed, I was praying in the dream even while I was asleep. It seemed that my spirit was being moved to pray for her by the Holy Spirit:

May the Peace of the Lord be upon you. May you find rest and refreshment far from your enemies. For the Lord has made you a lightening rod to light up the darkness, and as He struck you with His lightening, He revealed the darkening of the gathering clouds.
Now may you learn to let Him fight the battles for you as you follow in His train; rejoicing in Him as you go.

In Jesus.

When I awoke, the dream seemed like a revelation. Sarah has been used to expose great darkness in the land and the gathering storm clouds of spiritual darkness. It is no wonder she is hated so. The spiritual hatred of one who is Pro-Life, Pro-Family, and Christian is visceral and powerful. It is the same spirit that hated George Bush so. Yes, as human beings they all make mistakes, but the viciousness of the hatred for these two leaders is so vengeful, it cannot be simply inspired by human nature alone. As the darkness increases on the land, so shall the light make the darkness stand out in high relief.

"The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shined." Isaiah 9:2, RSV.

"Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the LORD will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising. Lift up your eyes round about, and see; they all gather together, they come to you; your sons shall come from far, and your daughters shall be carried in the arms. Then you shall see and be radiant, your heart shall thrill and rejoice; because the abundance of the sea shall be turned to you, the wealth of the nations shall come to you." Isaiah 60:1-5, RSV.
