Cloning Around and Playing God -The issue isn't whether we can, it is whether we should. Using human embryos for scientific purposes puts human life on the same level as that of the rat. Human beings become commodities and products for commercial sale to be used for scientific purposes. Although everyone despises slavery for its claim of ownership over human beings, cloning and abortion are part of the same attitude towards human life. Life is no longer sacred, and people no longer are God's possession, they are products of convenience and commerce to be bought and sold or destroyed at our pleasure. Gone are the sacred distance and fearful restraint of prior generations. In its place, man plays God with other human beings. Look for more thoughts and comments on these and other issues in the future. |
